Suspense...

So, no posts for a while.

Well. That was, um, my plan! To, um, leave you in suspense!

Anyway, lots of photography-related things have happened to me since my last post! For instance, I GOT PAID TO TAKE PHOTOS. (I believe I already made that clear, but just in case I thought I should just casually throw that in there.) I got to play around with Craig's camera that day, too which was awesome. (He has a very nice Sony DSLR and he had just bought a new 50mm lense. I'll post the other photos I took with it later. See what I did there? More suspense!) If I didn't already tell you, Craig is my sister's boyfriend. This is a very backlit Craig:
Also, I GOT A NEW CAMERA! Nothing terribly fancy, I haven't quite made it to SLR status yet, but it is considerably better than my old one which has been having trouble, poor dear. Here is a rather blurry photo taken of the NEW camera with the OLD one:
And now, for your viewing pleasure, the photos that I was PAID to take! Meet the Moren family:
They're a rather photogenic family, wouldn't you say?

Caution: There is absolutely no point to this post. Just a possible good picture and a particularly strange rant.

I can't believe I've written only four posts in two months. Pathetic. I do have a very small excuse. I forgot my password. Shame, Carly. Dummy. I haven't gotten any really great pictures since my last post, but I do kind of like this one for some unknown reason:

I think it's because it was so easy to get. I was just sitting there, reading Cheaper By the Dozen. (The last book on my shelf. I've read practically everything else except maybe The Portable Poe or Twilight, niether of which I could stomach.)

I'm turning sixteen in about an hour. Well, technically 24 hours is actully closer to when I was really born, if you know what I mean. I feel like I should be jumping up and down with excitement. I'm happy, but it's just not as big a deal as I used to think. I always envisioned my "Sweet Sixteen" as, you know, you get your licence, everything is pink, you get your first car. (When my mom heard that last one she looked a little bit shocked, as if I was trying to hint something. Yeah right, I wish.) Anyway, blah blah blah. I'm going to go eat a tuna sandwich now.

Twilight and Speech

I was at a speech tournament in Irvine the last few days which happens to be my sad excuse for not writing, but anyway I was waiting for my parents to finish filling out ballots after they had judged and I was very bored. I'm glad I had my camera! This is how I entertain myself:

I love macro. Just a few months ago I discovered it on my camera and it was such a revalation to me. For those of you who don't know, macro lets you take really close-up shots of things. Like eyes. And jeans. And iPods.

Anyway, every time I'm at a speech tournament giving a speech I always zone out in the middle of it and wonder: "why on earth am I doing this?" I was the girl who would stand behind my mother's back and glare at people, and now I'm in front of sometimes almost 100 people giving a 10-minute interpretive speech mocking Twilight.

For you Twilight fans out there, I am very sorry, but I think Twilight is absolutely ridiculous and Edward is not one tiny bit cute. There, I said it. If you have ever read Dan Bergstien's Blogging Twilight, I think you will agree with me. I'm actually including parts of it in my speech to help show the ridiculousness of it. (Although I don't even think I need it.) Just to show what I mean, here is a line from my speech:

Bella:     I couldn't imagine how an Angel could be any more glorious. There was nothing about him that could be improved upon.

Dan:      Really? How about and eyeball on the end of his finger so he could look around corners without being seen?

Ha. Ha. Ha. I love it.

There is a point. I think.

I can write a blog. I have thoughts. (Julie & Julia.)

At least I think so.

This is what I've been telling myself. Sometimes I can hear the theme from Indiana Jones in my head when I say it. Anyway, as my title says this is a photog blog. (Photog is short for photography or photographer for those of you who don't speak in teenager.) So I am going to have at least one photograph for every post I write. Let's see how long this lasts.

This is me:
As you can see, I like photos where you can't see my face. It's kind of a Lemony Snicket thing.

My loverly camera has been giving me rather rude looks lately. That is the reason for this blog. I have resolved to take more pictures than ever. The whole thing isn't really about photography, I just couldn't think of a name and now it sounds like I'm actually doing something useful with my time than blabbering about my boring life. (Do you like that new word I just made up?) So, there was my first, sad attempt at a blog post. Hopefully my thoughts will be more interesting when they're not all used up on the layout of the page.

Goodbye, dear void.
